Gerry Crampton:
Writer and director Raymond Austin contacted me again recently to inform me that a close friend and former colleague of his, stuntman Gerry Crampton, has sadly died. Raymond worked with Gerry for many years and this included time at ATV in Borehamwood, on a programme which starred Bernard Braden. When Raymond moved on from being a stunt performer to become a director, Gerry became a stunt arranger for all of the productions they worked on together including: The Avengers, The Champions and Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased), which were all made at Elstree Studios. Below is a personal tribute to Gerry from Raymond and his wife Wendy:
Gerry Crampton will be missed by many. He worked with some of the biggest stars in the industry and won their respect. Wendy and I will not mourn you Gerry, but will remember and never forget you, our true and dear friend. "The stage is quiet, the audience still and the curtain drops to the prompters bell. The actor stops, turns and waves farewell."
Love and applause, Gerry.
