Elstree Calling

Amy:

I am very proud to announce that I shot my new short drama film, Amy, at Elstree Studios on Saturday 15th November 2008. This twelve minute film was first broadcast by Information TV2 (Sky 167 - now Information TV (Sky 166)) on Thursday 22nd January 2009 at 10pm. The channel subsequently broadcast the film approximately thirty times.

I filmed Amy (made by my own not-for-proft film company, Paul Burton Films) in various parts of the historic film & TV studios in Borehamwood, Hertfordshire. Making a film at Elstree Studios was a dream come true for me and I was thrilled to able to give both amateur and professional acresses, extras and crew members the opportunity to work at the studios on this film. I then returned to make another short film at Elstree Studios during 2009. Entitled Resentment, a feature will appear on this website soon.

Film Synopsis:

Catherine Henson (Michelene Heine) has been busily preparing for her wedding to her fiance, Steve Parker, for several months when both she and her friend and work colleague, Kim White (Emma Fletcher), find out separately that a mutual friend, Amy North (Perdita Lawton), has been having an affair with Steve. Following a heated exchange with Catherine in her office about the affair, Amy leaves work early in an emotional state and is involved in car crash which results in her untimely death in hospital the following morning. The news of Amy's death results in the majority of her work colleagues, including Amy's close friend, Natalie Lewis (Freya Saddler), blaming the crash on Catherine. They argue that Amy's concentration at the wheel may have been greatly-reduced due to being upset from the row that had just taken place between her and Catherine. Still devastated by the news that her fiance has had an affair with one of her best friends, Catherine now finds herself being sent to Coventry by her colleagues who blame her for indirectly causing Amy's death.
